And this year, the prestigious Oxford Dictionaries decided that the word of the year is post-truth, an adjective ârelating to or denoting circumstances in which objective facts are less influential in shaping public opinion than appeals to emotion and personal beliefâ.

The contemporary origin of the term is attributed to blogger David Roberts who used it in 2010 in a column for Grist.
